1:21 pm 9/1 Over the last few weeks, we gutted the Arizona room, painted the ceiling and walls.

I spent the previous weekend cutting all of the puzzle pieces for the central pattern. For years we have been looking at the pre-made tile inlays sold at tile stores. They are either too small for a room or too expensive. We did some work on the computer and came up with a pattern that we both liked. Now we have to do it :-)
1:22pm 9/1
The two door frames were removed and replaced with stained wood (the door to the closet is new and stained also). What you may be able to see is that the hall floor was removed and we re-cast the slab to make it a smooth gradient. What you can't see is that there is now a closet on the left of the hall.

The red dots on the spacers is the laser that is running down the central line of the room.

This is the working pattern for the floor.

The laser line that defines the center-line of the room (this is the first room that Stacy and I have worked in that has straight walls and square corners!).

9/3 8pm - Most of today I was cutting tile and Stacy was removing the extra mortar that would get in the way of the grouting, and then we put the cut bits down. The last two days went so quickly because we put down precut pieces, or uncut pieces. This is the center of the room.
Stacy complained about this piece of tile (just for scale, the grout lines are 3/8")
9/15 5:21 pm - The hall (and the new closet to the left) has a floor - Note the compulsion shown in this work, the tiles 1) line up above and below the facing & 2) above and below the facing is the same tile, just cut!
9/15 5:21 - The closet has a floor
9/27 7:30 pm - The room is ready to have the furniture put back into it! The new closet door and the trim around the hall going to the bedroom can be seen (for those who are observant, the new switch and outlet plates can be seen also).
9/29 - David standing on the finished floor
9/29 12:56 PM - We start the kitchen floor (the red is the slip-sheet)
9/29 1:55 PM - the fist pieces go down
9/29 1:58 PM
9/29 3:17 PM
9/29 6:13 PM
9/30 8:51 AM - The portch is mostly done
10/4 9:53 PM All of the tile that needs to be cut is put around the room (Stacy has been very careful about tiles that look alike being close to each other)
10/6 3:48 PM - The pieces are cut
10/6 3:48 PM - This is one of the stranger pieces of tile. It is 20" x 0.5" (with a triangle on the end)
10/6 7:54 PM - Most of the kitchen is done
10/6 7:55 PM - Most of the kitchen is done
10/6 7:54 PM - Most of the kitchen is done
10/6 7:54 PM - Here is that strange piece put into the pattern
10/10 7:38 AM - Stacy grouted the hall and the new closet yesterday
10/10 6:23 PM - I got home from work early, so we finished laying the tile (Stacy labels the pieces we can't stand on)
10/10 6:24 - The rest of the kitchen is done!
10/10 6:24 PM - After giving me grief for the small piece of tile in the Arizona Room, Stacy then insisted in putting this chip down (again, for scale, the grout lines are 3/8")
10/10 6:23 PM - Here are some of the more complex pieces of tile in the kitchen
10/10 6:23 PM - This is the last piece of tile set as part of this project (I need some time before we start the next project!).
