On Friday we drove up to Flagstaff for the 2006 Curryfest get-together (nicknamed Canyonfest). We ended up with 4 cabins in the woods. The highlight for the kids was the playground right outside.
Saturday was a trip to Oak Creek Canyon and Slide Rock. A large thunderstorm cut the water fun a bit short. But, it did create some interesting fog in the canyon.
On Sunday, we drove to Williams and rode the train to the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is very large and impressive.
Monday began with a tour of Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument with its lava flows and a view of the Painted Desert, then visits to the Wukoki and Wupatki pueblos at Wupatki National Monument, and ended with the curry dinner.
Tuesday several groups did different activities. Stacy and David drove home the back roads and stopped at Tonto Natural Bridge State Park. We laughed at the covered marina in Roosevelt Lake. Then, we caught a great sunset as we approached Tucson on Rte. 79.
