Stacy may not agree with the following version of History (click here to see her version - she sent her version just when I finished working on this), but these pictures have not been put on the web page for quite a while because she has not written the text for this page.  So, I put this together.

The original plan for Stacy’s birthday was to have her Mother and others come to Tucson for a Surprise Birthday Party.  Stacy hates surprises, but she is not a fan of birthdays, so I thought the two negatives would cancle out.

Stacy’s Mother then decided she had to tell Stacy what the plan was, so the surprise was off.  To make sure there was not a party, Stacy immediately planed a trip to a place:  1) that was far enough from Tucson that there would not be a party with people, and 2) that her Mother had never been to.

Carol and Dave had just driven 15 hours the day before flying across the country, so the next day we put them into a car and drove for a few hours to Sedona to see the great red rocks.  We then drove up Oak Creek Canyon and to Flagstaff for the night.

The next morning we drove to Grand Canyon Village and looked around.  We got grinders (hoagies if you are from Philadelphia, or sandwiches if you are everybody else) and watched the sunset over the Canyon.  We stayed in Yavapai Lodge.

The next day we drove East along the South Rim of the canyon, stopping along the way to see the view.  We had lunch at the Cameron Trading Post and then drove back to Tucson.

We spent much of the next few days sitting around the pool and drinking wine.  Dave and Carol did go to see Colossal Cave, but I don’t have their picture.  You can look at the pictures I took when Elizabeth and I went a few weeks before.

Carol and Dave got to see Sedona and the Grand Canyon and Stacy did not have to endure a surprise birthday party.  All were happy!
