In the summer of 2006 we went to Ireland with some friends (the people we went to Italy and Mexico with). Below is Dan's itinerary. I had nothing to do with the work of the planning. I was the grumpy driver who demanded instant excellent directions and then complained about the back-seat drivers.

5/18 Thursday:
------------------
Arrive Dublin, escape from the airport with the rental car ~ noon.
Check in to B&B, at least to leave bags if we can't get into the rooms.
Have a bite and a pint to get in the Irish mood, and get the stomach synchronized with GMT.
Grab a bus into Dublin.
Do Tourist stuff as the mood strikes us.
Back to the B&B to sleep like the dead.

5/19 Friday:

Awake, eat massive Irish breakfast, into Dublin.
Tourism & mayhem as appropriate
Back to the now familiar B&B, sleep like dead.

5/20 Saturday:

Up at sunrise, calisthenics followed by a brisk 5k run.
Eat MIB, check out of B&B.
Something in Dublin in the morning - take the car and park downtown like the locals.
Escape Dublin to the South for Glendalough monastary & valley.
Drive ~100mi to Cashel, check into B&B.
Check out "eerie floodlit views" of "The Rock". Take night pictures.
Dinner, Ale, SLD.

5/21 Sunday:

WARNING: I think this will be a long day. Not rushed unless road conditions are bad or we get lost
Up early, MIB.
Open the Rock of Cashel site at 9am, 2 hr. or so of stomping & shooting pix.
Pile into car, drive ~50mi. to Bunratty Castle & Folk Park.
Storm the Castle, possibly have lunch at the on-site historic pub.
Drive like a crazy Irishman ~40mi to Doolin.
Check into B&B.
If it's sunny, drive to the end of the road and take pictures of the Cliffs of Moher from Doolin town.
Dinner, Ale, Traditional Irish Music in any or all of the three local pubs. All walking distance from the B&B.
Back to B&B, SLD.

5/22 Monday:
----------------
Up, MIB, check out, pile in car.
If weather is good, maybe drive to top of Cliffs of Moher.
Kick around the Burren, looking at Dolmens, Stone Forts, the Perfumery, whatever looks interesting.
Meander (>75 miles, depending on the exact meander (detour to Kilmacduagh)) to Clonmacnois Monastary and Castle.
See the monastary in the late afternoon - site closes at 7pm.
B&B, Ale, Food, SLD.

5/23 Tuesday:
----------------
Up early, MIB, check out, pile in car.
Bomb down the road about 100mi. to the Brunne Na Boinne Visitor's centre for Newgrange, etc.
Tour Newgrange, Knowth, Dowth.
Back in the car, stay near to Trim, then drive down to Dublin in the morning.

5/24 Wednesday:

Dan & Christy acquire small car. Meet Donald & Gabrielle.
David, Stacy, Donald and Gabrielle to ferry and to Wales.
Dan & Christy bum around Ireland another week.
