(Full disclosure statment - Many of the folowing pictures were not taken by me, I lifted them from my parents)

For their 2009 drive across the country, Bob and Lee decided to visit several of the canyons in the Canyon Lands area. Stacy and David flew up to Salt Lake City to join them on part of the trip.

Day 1 - We drove from Salt Lake City to Bryce National Park and its visitors center. We spent the night at Ruby's Inn.

Day 2 - The next day we went back to take some pictures at Bryce with the morning sun on it and for David and Stacy to do a hike. After the early morning at Bryce, we drove to Kodachrome State Park and took a side trip to see the Shakespeare Arch (also in Kodachrome). Kodahrome has lots of white spires (the remains of ancient geysers) that rise out of the red rock. After this side trip, we drove to Cedar Breaks National Monument. Like Bryce, Cedar Breaks is more of an eroded cliff than a two walled canyon. We then went to Brian Head, which is a mountain just to the north of Cedar Breaks and has great views of the area. That night was spent at Cedar Breaks Lodge.

Day 3 - The next morning we went back to Cedar Breaks to take some pictures in the morning light and then drove to Zion Canyon National Park. After spending the day at Zion, we drove to the Grand Canyon National Park's North Rim and stayed in the truly terrible Jacob Lake Inn (when David was trying to determine the last time he had been in such a bad place, he was forced to go back 15 years and to the trail 'hotels' of Nepal!).

Day 4 - The next day we visited the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and stayed at the much better Grand Canyon Lodge. That night, we watched the sunset from the end of Bright Angel Point.

Day 5 - The next day Stacy and David hiked the Widforss trail while Bob and Lee went for a short drive and then started the Widforss trail. We then drove to Cameron and stayed at the very nice Cameron Trading Post. The next day, we visited some of the south rim of the Grand Canyon and then drove to Tucson.

On this trip we did not get to Grand Canyon Village. If you want to see pictures from there, you will have to look at the pictures from CurryFest 2006.

When Bob and Lee get the pictures of their trip on the web, there will be a link here.

There are some QuickTime movies in with the pictures.  If you can not read the QuickTime files, then Get a Mac or go to the Apple QuickTime page.

When the QuickTime VR windows open, click in the window and while holding down the button, move the cursor around (have fun).
